1. The short version
- Your writing is sent to our AI provider to be marked.
- If you speak with Dreamy, your spoken answers are recorded, turned into text and marked. The recordings are deleted once Dreamy has marked them; the text and Dreamy's feedback stay in your account until you delete them.
- When you're signed in, your checks (the question, your answer and your feedback) are saved to your account, so you can see them on any device. You can delete them at any time on the My plan page.
- If you sign in, we keep your email address, your plan and how many checks you've used.
- If you buy a plan, we keep the number you paid from and the transaction ID.
- We don't sell your information, show adverts, or use your writing to train AI.
2. What DreamEd AI uses
Your writing
When you press “Check”, the question, your answer and, for Task 1, the chart are sent to our server and then to Anthropic, the company whose AI (Claude) marks your writing. If you upload a photo of a handwritten answer, the photo is sent the same way to be typed up. We don't keep the photo itself.
In Skill practice, when you ask for a hint (or turn on “Hints as I type”), or ask DreamEd AI to check a sentence, the practice question and what you have written in that box are sent to Anthropic in the same way, to suggest your next words or check your sentence. We don't keep your Skill practice writing; we only count how many hints and checks you use each day. Which practice sentences you got right is remembered only in your own browser. On the Free plan, we also note which of the books' answers (model answers, mind maps and book answers) you have opened in the current 30 days, to count your free looks. And we note, at most once a day, when you reach a limit of your plan or open the checkout page, so we can see how well the plans work for students.
Speaking with Dreamy
Dreamy, DreamEd AI's Speaking partner, uses your microphone only while it is listening to you, and only after you have agreed to how your voice is used.
- Tests and recordings (Part 1, Parts 2 & 3, the mock test, a Part 2 recording): each spoken answer is recorded and saved in our database with your account, the questions and the date. The recording is sent to Deepgram to be turned into text, and the text, not the sound, is sent to Anthropic, whose AI (Claude) is Dreamy's examiner, to think about your answer and mark the test. Once Dreamy has marked it, we delete the recordings. The text of your answers, Dreamy's feedback and your estimated bands stay in your account until you delete them.
- Talk with Dreamy and Basic English: what you say is turned into text (Deepgram) so Dreamy can reply (Anthropic). We don't keep the recording or the conversation; it stays in your own browser.
- Dreamy's voice is made by ElevenLabs (or Deepgram) from Dreamy's own words. Your voice is never sent to ElevenLabs.
- We count your sessions with Dreamy (what you used and when) for your plan's allowance.
- A few students who agreed to help test Dreamy also have their recordings sent to AssemblyAI, to compare it with Deepgram, and kept so Shirin Akter can listen and check Dreamy's marks.
Your saved checks
When you're signed in, each check is saved to your account in our database: the question, your answer, a small copy of the Task 1 chart, and your feedback, including your band scores and the improved version. Full mock tests are saved the same way. This is how your recent checks and your progress follow you to any device. We keep your newest 50 checks and delete older ones automatically. You can delete them yourself at any time on the My plan page.
What stays on your device
Your browser also keeps a copy of your saved checks, so they open quickly; it's removed when you sign out. Answers you're still writing on Practice and Skill practice, any mock test you haven't finished, your light or dark mode choice and, if your teacher gave you one, your access code are kept only in your browser's storage on your own device. They are not sent to us, and clearing this site's data in your browser deletes them.
Your account
When accounts are switched on, signing in is handled by Clerk. We receive your email address and an account ID. We keep your email address, your plan and its dates, how many checks you've used in the current 30-day period, and a record of each check: the date, whether it was Task 1 or Task 2, and whether it was practice or a mock test, as well as the saved checks described above.
Emails
We may send you a few reminder emails about DreamEd AI: one when we start them if you signed up before, and, if you haven't checked an answer yet, up to three in your first week. They stop as soon as you check an answer or start a paid plan, and every one has an unsubscribe link. We note which reminders we sent you, whether you opened the page they link to, and whether you unsubscribed. Emails about your account and payments are separate and always sent.
The help guide
If you ask the help guide (the “Help” button) a question, your question and the conversation so far are sent to Anthropic, whose AI writes the answer. We don't keep the conversation: it stays in your browser tab until you close it. We count how many questions are asked each day, by account, or for visitors by a code made from their internet address that changes every day, to keep the guide free for everyone.
Practice reminders
If you turn on practice reminders on the My plan page, your browser gives us an address for sending notifications to that device, and we keep it with your account, along with the kind of device (Android, iPhone or computer). While they're on, your browser also tells us which days you practised in the last few weeks and how many of your “Fix it again” mistakes come due on which days (only the numbers, not the mistakes). We use this to send at most one reminder a day, and we count how many reminders are sent and opened.
The free Plus trial
If you start the free Plus trial, we note when it started and ended, and your email address in a simplified form (without dots or extra tags in a Gmail address), so each person has one trial.
Invites
Each student has an invite link. If you open a friend's link, your browser remembers it for 30 days. When you then check your first answer, we note who invited you, your email address and the outcome, and give you both extra checks. Your email is checked only to stop misuse (inviting yourself, or throwaway addresses). The friend who invited you sees only how many friends have joined, never who.
Reviews
If you write a review, we keep your star rating, the name you chose, what you wrote, your plan and your email address. Once we approve it, the rating, name, plan, text and the month are shown on DreamEd AI; your email address never is.
Payments
When you buy a plan, we keep the plan, the amount, whether you paid with bKash or Nagad, the number you paid from, the transaction ID, any promo code you used, the date, and whether we approved the payment. The payment itself is handled by bKash or Nagad under their own terms. We never see your PIN or your balance.
Technical information
Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, your browser type and the pages you open, to keep the site secure and working. Our server also records how much AI processing each check used, without any of your writing, so we can follow our costs. We don't use analytics or advertising trackers.
Cookies
DreamEd AI uses no advertising or analytics cookies. When you sign in, Clerk uses cookies to keep you signed in.
3. Why we use it
- To mark your writing and show you your feedback.
- To turn what you say to Dreamy into text, reply to you, and mark your speaking.
- To save your checks so you can see them, and your progress, on any device.
- To run your account, count your checks and switch on the plan you paid for.
- To check payments and prevent misuse, such as one transaction ID being used twice.
- To keep DreamEd AI secure and working, and to understand what it costs to run.
We don't sell your information, use it for advertising, or use your writing or your voice to train AI models.
4. Who else handles it
These companies handle information for us, only to run DreamEd AI:
- Anthropic (AI marking and hints): receives your question, answer, chart or photo for each check, your Skill practice writing when you ask for a hint or a check, and the text of what you say to Dreamy. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use this content to train its models and keeps it only for a limited time. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
- Deepgram (speech to text, and sometimes Dreamy's voice): receives your recordings to turn them into text. We have opted out of its programme for improving its models, so it does not use them to train its AI. See Deepgram's privacy policy.
- ElevenLabs (Dreamy's voice): receives only the words Dreamy says, never your voice or your details. See ElevenLabs' privacy policy.
- AssemblyAI (speech to text, for students helping test Dreamy only): receives their recordings, to compare with Deepgram. We have opted out of its use of our data for training, and we ask it to delete its copy as soon as we have the text. See AssemblyAI's privacy policy.
- Vercel (hosting): runs the website and our server.
- Clerk (sign-in): stores your sign-in details.
- Neon (database): stores the account records, saved checks and payment records described above.
- Resend (email): sends our emails, so it receives your email address, your first name and the email's text.
- Your browser's notification service (Google for Chrome and Android, Apple for iPhone and Safari, Mozilla for Firefox, Microsoft for Edge): delivers practice reminders, if you turn them on, so it receives each reminder's text.
- bKash and Nagad: handle the payments you send us.
These companies may store and process information outside Bangladesh, including in the United States. We may also share information if the law requires us to.
5. How long we keep it
- Your saved checks: your newest 50, until you delete them or your account. Anthropic keeps the writing it marks only for a limited time, as its policy explains.
- Dreamy: your recordings until Dreamy has marked them (for students helping test Dreamy, until the test ends); the text of your answers, Dreamy's feedback and your bands until you delete them or your account. Chats and Basic English practice aren't kept.
- Your account: for as long as you have one, or until you ask us to delete it.
- Payment records: for as long as we need them for our accounts and to settle any disagreement about a payment, even after an account is deleted.
- Practice reminders: until you turn them off, or your browser stops accepting them.
- Reviews: until you or we delete them, or your account is deleted.
- Invites: who invited whom, for as long as either account exists.
- Technical logs: for a short time, kept by our hosting provider.
6. Your choices
- You can see your plan, checks and payments on the My plan page.
- You can delete any saved check from your recent checks or the Progress page, or all of them at once on the My plan page.
- You can delete any of your tests or recordings with Dreamy on the Dreamy page.
- You can stop reminder emails at any time with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each one.
- You can turn practice reminders off on the My plan page, or by blocking notifications for this site in your browser.
- You can change your review on the Home page, or ask us to delete it.
- You can download a copy of your information, or delete your account, yourself on the My plan page. Deleting your account removes your sign-in, your plan, your saved checks, your check records, your reviews, reminders and invites, and your Dreamy recordings; payment records are kept as explained above.
- You can also ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account, by writing to dreamedfoundation07@gmail.com. We aim to reply within 30 days.
7. Younger students
DreamEd AI is for people preparing for IELTS. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before you sign in or buy a plan. DreamEd AI is not meant for children under 13.
8. Keeping it safe
DreamEd AI only works over a secure (HTTPS) connection, and we choose providers that protect the information they handle. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your sign-in safe and don't put personal details, such as your phone number or address, in your essays.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change is important, we'll also tell signed-in students in DreamEd AI before it applies.
